Re: What are you doing today??
Today Mathew I'm prepairing the bill, well you go on holiday you expect it to be a holiday not become the feckin maintence man, first the switch that works the lounge wall light has got a mind of its own, just jams solid some times, won't switch on, then the light in the kitchen area chucks it, fecken black hole of Calcutta place was with two lights gone tits up, now Reg does have a drawer full of bulbs but the mechanism for releasing the lamp shade has seized up, happens out there due to the salt in the sea air, so it's a taxi down to the Chinese shop in Los Cris (C C Abora wasn't open Sunday), one tin of WD40 type stuff purchased plus three ice cube trays (won't charge you for them as heavy handed Annie played a roll in the demise of the original), taxi back to appartment then the hard/skilled work started, squirt of the WD40 in to the lamp shade securing mechanism, while the WD40 is doing its job there I turn my attention to the dodgy light switch, small squirt of the WD40 in to the switch mechanism then gently worked the switch as far as it would move to get the lubricant in to the dried/seized up bit of the switch, soon had it working good as new... Then back to the lamp shade, it proved to be a bit of a pain in the arse, but with a couple of more squirts of the WD40 and a fair bit of gental manipulation I got the mechnisum working, bulb changed I washed the dead bugs out of the shade before refitting...

So:-
WD40 stuff = €2:50
Taxi there = €5:00
Taxi back = €5:00 (I'll pick up the tab for that one as was going to have to go for ice cube trays anyway)
Labour = €60.00 (That equate to 2 hours, includes travel time)
Total = €67:50 (Or if paying in sterling £52:65)
Tip Reg, when I lived out there I had the exact same problem with them lamp shade release mechanisms seizing up, also had issues with them screw in light bulbs seizing in, the answer, I coated the lamp shade mechnisums with a light coating of "Three In One" oil, also coated the threads of the light bulbs with oil, no tears when changing a bulb after that, won't charge you for that bit of advice...

No problem, know what a pain it is getting things done out there when you ain't there yourself, lad who done odd jobs for me out there only lived a couple of doors away, €15 to change a bulb and that was us supplying the bulb, like you we had a drawer full of them...

The Lone Ranger wrote:Been out with Macie all day at an outdoor activity park style thingy. She was there for 3 1/2 hours! She loved it! Stopped off at a glider aerodrome to watch them taking off with the long rope thing on a winch. She thought that was cool! She got ice cream, a couple of toys, 3 more easter eggs at the activity centre, fed 2 horses with our stale bread and gave a load to some ducks which get fed so much and often they never even looked at our stale crap!
Didn't bother the seagulls though, they scoffed the lot!
Couple of toys bought, a snake and a bag of rubber spiders of all things, and ended off the day having dinner at our house.

Knackered,,, join the club, me and Annie sitting here like two geriatrics, and no feckin smart comments on that one,,, after the water sports day yesterday all joints aching, it's the jet skis that take it out of you, bit like doing a motocross bouncing from wave to wave for twenty minutes, mussels you didn't even know you had working hard to keep you on the thing,,, then basically no sleep since we got up yesterday morning 11am, wasn't worth going to bed last night due to silly flight time, so we just kept going, so think we will sleep well tonight..

I remember being on those jet skis before. That evening I could barely walk down the stairs of the apartment.

Just watching an evening of music celebration called Centenary. It has been one of those things that makes you thankful for who you are d where you are from. I think Gypsy is a fan of Colm Wilkinson from Les Miserables . He did a cover of U2's "One", that made the hairs on my neck stand up.

On a previous holiday I hired a jet ski, same place as yesterday right in front of Reg's, lm out there on my own giving it big, waves were coming in big on the day in question, I'm having a good time flying off the top of them, took off from one and splatter straight in to the front of the next one rolling in, was like driving in to a brick wall, jet ski stopped dead but I didn't, splatter myself chest first in to the handlebars on the way over them, good job I had a life jacket on, not only for the fact it kept me afloat when I hit the water but it lessened the impact of my chest on the handlebars, recon I would have lost a lot of skin if it hadn't been for it...
