Saw my first and only one a few years back in Manchester, it was well advertised on tv etc that it was going to happen, so at the expected time we all pile out of work to watch, bit disappointing to be honest, it was a clear sunny day, could clearly see the moon pass in front of the sun, but we were not plunged in to darkness as we were expecting, just went very dull, to be honest if I hadn't known what was happening I would probably have thought nothing of it...

It was misty round my way so I never saw it. I had my welding mask at the ready on the wheelie bin but not needed. Got dark a bit, thats about all. Next one in UK is 85 years time so fingers crossed....

I got the loan of a welder's mask for the last one. I remember it got cold. We went a bit dark this morning. Cars had their headlights on. The fog was the weirdest thing. Sun splitting the stones @ 8.15 then half hour later ,thick fog starts to build up, then @ 9.45 it started to disappear again. Spooky!
