Propellers do that, engine goes round but propeller don't...usually a shear pin designed to break first.

Re: What are you doing today??
Just had lunch in an inn that was famous many years ago it is just a couple of miles away and used to be great , alas no more , before it burned down it was a fine old coaching inn called "The Leadburn Inn" it was really famous and had a Pullman railway dining carriage in the grounds where customers could dine, since it was rebuilt we thought we would give it the old once over ,the first time we went it was closed for staff training, that was a few months ago, today we went and now wish we hadn't bothered ,the food was alright ,it was the actual place that just wasn't right ,the décor was awful, red brick wallpaper and frilly lamp shades, it didn't help either as Val and I were the youngest people in there , it was really busy and we soon discovered why, they do half portions if you so wish , I ordered haddock and the waitress asked if I wanted a half portion, just get Moby Dick on a plate and that will suffice says I , happy to say my instructions were carried out, doubt if we will return as the atmosphere was terrible

Re: What are you doing today??
Sounds awful, I hate it when you are looking forward to something and it doesn´t live up to expectations.
I wasn´t looking forward to going up north today to check out the sales, thought I would find some new luggage (nope) Jim fancied a new loo seat (one of those silent close types - don´t know what gave him that idea - nope) but I did end up with a t-shirt, a dress, 2 pairs of trousers and some sandals. Jim got 2 pairs of shoes so it wasn´t a totally wasted day.

Yesterday I watched some football, wish I was a Kraut.
I will watch some more tonight and hopefully the Dutch will win, wouldnt be too surprised if it was by more than one goal. Take Messi out, job done.

Re: What are you doing today??
Don't know the Howgate, but again name rings a bell for some reason, but dropped in to the one with the railway carriage for a shandy or two when we'd been out for a drive/picnic on the way home, don't think I ever dined there, liked the road to the right if you were heading south, not much there, but nice, eventually took you down to Biggar if I recall right...
