Amy McDonald live at Sage, Gateshead 07/03/2012

If I had to use a single word to review this wee 25 year old Scottish lass live then it would be 'staggering'.

This is Love Love off her 2nd album A Curious Thing:

We've been fans of her music since she first rose to fame back in 2007 with the excellent debut album This is the Life, she has such a superb voice for a tiny lass and she could have easily just should there on stage with her guitar and equally blown everybody away. Her acoustic set was worth the money alone spine tingling we'd jump at the chance to see her on an acoustic tour.

Amy has some great songs in her 3 albums from the quiet romantic to the rock & roll get up and dance, as I say superb voice from the wee lass who has built a career off the back of 3 great album and now has achieved fame in America and Europe at such a young age.

If you haven't heard of her of much by here then get googling for some of here music, you won't be disappointed.

The support act was excellent, Ben Montague is a Radio 2 favorite and has some great songs in his repertoire such as this which was record of the week on Ken Bruce recently:

Couple of snaps I took en route to the Sage:

The Sage was a sell out and we could see and hear why it's won awards
for it acoustic the sound in the specialised wood clad main hall is
    brilliant.
The unique building has dominated the quayside since it was built in 2004 but we had never been inside, but its always staging events such as music, arts exhibitions etc.
It has ample parking but most people access it (or seem to on the night) via the Millenium Bridge from the Newcastle quayside and its ample bars were full of people going to the concert.
Bar prices were very decent and the venue inside is a brilliant as it looks, facilities are great bars cafe's shops and the staff are superb, only downside was that it was slightly 'stiff 'for the kind of concert it was very one wanted to be up dancing about but the seating doesn't lend its self to that and is probably best suited for less rocky concerts were people would wan to sit and listen.
