There is bread you can get now that is suppose to keep for a week. It tastes horrible so I don't fancy this new stuff.

Surely it would drive up the cost of making the bread. Wouldn't that it turn, negate any savings made against throwing it away, as is done at present, after a few days?

If bread starts to go stale, I just toast it. Tastes just the same and saves throwing it out.

You can wrap staleish bread in clingfilm and microwave it for a few seconds. This freshens up the centre of it. Cut off the crust and hey presto, your bread tastes like its just out of the oven.

Remember when I was a lad and we were learning how to make real bread ,our instructor described modern bread as "the art of making water stand up" bread should be eaten fresh , made daily if possible, you will never get the taste of fresh bread unless it is baked and eaten on the same day , the stuff we buy in supermarkets is nothing more than mush, if bread was meant to last a long time an alternative to yeast would have been found but the taste would not be liked, buy your bread daily and you will taste the difference, by bread I dont mean the sliced rubbish that is called bread in super markets etc get yourself down to your local baker/deli and taste the difference

With todays bread makers there is no excuse for not having fresh bread daily and you can experiment with different additives like[garlic] tomato, seeds etc one of my favourites is tomato and garlic dressing[heinz] all it takes is common sense and imagination

The stuff that is sold as par baked is in fact fully baked it has simply not beeb coloured and it lasts less than once baked bread, but if you are baking it to eat right away it is fine
