Re: Scottish Independence
Yeah, think it originally kicked in at retirement/pension age, women 60 and men 65, then they started dishing out to all at 60, don't know if that was some equality issue thing that triggered that, now they're talking about raising the age threshold, think the 60 and 65 years pension age thing changed a bit back, not sure what the deal is on it now, would have to have a read up on it...
If I recall correctly I think there was some sort of restriction on using the free passes at peak times, think they put it over as creating space for workers to get to work, not you fit to work freebie feckers ain't getting a free ride to work...

Re: Scottish Independence
Just had a look at the free Scottish bus pass thing, came across this paragraph:-
"Those eligible under the Scheme are issued with a National entitlement Card which will allow them unlimited free bus travel throughout Scotland at any time of day, including the morning rush hour. The Scheme also provides two free return ferry journeys to the mainland for card holders living on Orkney, Shetland and the Western Isles."
So no peak time restrictions,,, plus free ferry travel...

I was picking up a car in Scotland. The dealer was in Hamilton. I booked Ryanair, Shannon to Glasgow. It distinctly said "Glasgow" on the Ryanair site. We feckin' landed in Prestwick. The lad had to drive down to collect me.

Re: Scottish Independence
Nope. There's Glasgow Prestwick & Glasgow International. The reason it has stayed open so long is it has a massive runway and is virtually fog-free all year. You get humongous giant cargo planes landing and taking off from there including a lot of US military flights...

Re: Scottish Independence
But it's miles from Glasgow...
Why don't we rename the airport at Dundee as Edinburgh Riverside Airport,,, well it's about the same distance away as Prestwich is to Glasgow...
