Nice you can get the ferry across windermere  to coniston and avoid all Bowness traffic.
bit more select and great views, also get up hardnott pass and Kirkstone pass for the views
    I am totally jealous

What a day! Went to Keswick first and they started a bike race coming back. 15 feckin' miles of cyclists from Keswick to Ambleside. They closed the Kirkstone pass 'cos the bike race went up that way. Went down to Coniston and it was raining... Had a coffee and cake in the cafe, but didn't do the boat trip either because of the mist. Didn't go up the Hardknott Pass as it was misty and wet so wouldn't have seen anything. I'll get them another day!

Great Cornish pastie's in Keswick,  Coniston is the wettest place in England weather
Hardnott is the steepest road in the UK so wise move if it was wet, It leads to the honister slate mine and Blue bird cafe was where the railway men loaded up the little train with slate,

Breeze into Ambleside for a nosy round then up Kirkstone pass to Ullswater and Patterdale, nice boathouse for a cuppa then press on to the A66 to either the M6 or the other way to where ever
