I've had guys lose their driving licences for being marginally over the drink drive limit when stopped on the way to work in the morning at these drink drive spot checks they set up at Christmas...
I'm not in any way supporting drink driving, but these guys did not drive to the pub get shit faced and drive home, yip they've obviously had a drink the night before but did not think in any way they were drink driving the next day,,, I suspect if they'd opted for a blood test at the police station rather than a second breath test by the time the the cops had organised a doctor they would have been below the limit...
And did the judge give any leaway given they had not intentionally drunk drove, nope, all received driving bans above the minimum 12 months for the offence, 18 and 24 month bans were dished out...
Oh, and did it "affect their career prospects",,, well you can't drive a truck without a licence...
