Dont tell Carol but it only cost £300.   Year 2000. 92k miles. That was the only photo on ebay but if its fecked on the other side or the interior or hood is rough I will just walk away. Me and patsy will collect it from Essex (  ) on Saturday. Owner says there is a water leak possibly from water pump but seeing as I would replace cambelt anyway as a matter of course not a big deal. Engines on these are all aluminium and if they overheat to extreme they melt! Apparently it starts and drives so...... Who dares wins. As I said its for Patsy, when she retires. She keeps bugging me for another VW Beetle but we have lost 3 of them completely over the years so its just not gonna happen. She can carry on commuting in the ultra reliable diesel Octavia Estate in the mean time, 216,000 miles now, drives like new! I'm just too kind.    Or is this the nearest thing I could get to a Frogeye Sprite I wanted when I was a teenager but the £200 price tag in those days was just pie in the sky. Or the £10k price for the feckers now! Of course what I really want is an E-Type soft top, but they cost more than a pad in Tenerife and then I will probably bend it anyway playing Stirling Moss! Strangely enough I was originally looking for a Jag XK8, modern equivalent to the E-Type??? But I'm not an auto electrician so sense has probably prevailed. Oh, and £5 a gallon.........

Yesterday I went to collect car. Patsy was suppposed to come with me but Jack suddenly remembered he had a theory test for driving licence at 11am. He failed, muppet. So took camper van and a-frame to tow it with. When I saw the car it was very obvious I wasnt going to attatch the a-frame without risking damage to the front bumper it was that low so I gave the man his penny's and said I will undo the rad cap so it doesnt pressurise and see how it goes. (water pump apparently leaks) Well, drove it home the 60 odd miles with heater going full, would have been anyway haha, and perfect, no noticeable water missing and temp guage stayed just below halfway. Great but now I have to collect camper. Feck it, we will take the new toy. Anyway all went well and Patsy drove it back and she likes it. First thing tomorrow is get the hydragas springs pumped up, jeez, I'm too old for go-carts.

When I went back to Braintree to collect campervan I parked in a car park at the end of the sellers road to talk Patsy through the controls etc. Poor cow was shaking like a leaf, she has no sense of adventure like me. Stick me in a 747, talk me through the controls and I'm off.   I said it drives pretty much like your Octavia except you are sat on the floor and all the controls are in pretty much the same place. She swore to me the indicators on her car were on the right of the steering wheel but I said no Patsy, they are on the left.

Ooops pressed send button too early.   I said we will go via M11 even though thats further because she knows that way and wont get lost. I shouldnt have worried, she was pretty much stuck to my back bumper the whole way.   Joined Anglia MGF facebook page today. Apparently I'm the 100th member. I might even get a special sticker! Anyway theres a meet on Thursday in a pub not too far from here so I shall turn up and see whats ado. Theres a sponsored  circumnavigation run round the M25 in a couple of weeks too, starts from South Mimms A1 junction, thats lucky innit? Nearest. Midnight run with hood down........... Brrrr. Although apparently its not a race, yeah, like the VW Brighton run, they all bowled past me.

Sorry if I'm boring you lot but think I have pulled a bit of a diamond here. It has some added goodies. Stainless steel exhaust which makes a nice rumble on the over-run, although to be fair not as good as the Morris Minor. Stainless steel pipes that run from the rad at the front to the engine at the back. A carbon fibre, well looks like carbon fibre anyway rear wing thingy and same style splitter on front bumper and same style air intake surrounds on sides,. Probably at least a grands worth. Luckily they didnt swap the plastic wood in the cockpit for same, I like wood. Goes well with the beigey cream leather which is also in good nick. I can see why you love yours Carol, hang on to it. It will be worth at least a small house in Grimsby in 30 years time..........  good
