    Brake failure Empty Brake failure

    Post by 3rdforum on Mon 6 Jun 2016 - 18:30

I was parked on a slope at the top of this hill here so I reefed the handbrake as high as I could. Got out, took a few photos and got back in to drive down the hill. Noticed that the brakes were still locked on . Pulled into a lay by and closed and released the handbrake a few times. Brakes released so I head down the hill. Came to the first bend you can see in the photo, pressed the brake pedal and the feckin' thing was rock solid. Dropped it into 2nd, barely made it round the bend and then took off down a two mile stretch . Was blessed nothing was coming up the hill. Burnt out the clutch. Get to the bottom and hit a pothole. Tried the brakes again and the feckin' things worked again. My trousers were like this

Getting rid of that feckin' van for definite. Eileen doesn't want me driving it at all. Was lucky that I had dropped her and kids off at a chocolate factory a couple of miles away while I went to take a few photos. I might just bring in a van from the UK and get it converted over here.

Boiled brake fluid I suggest. Automatic brake adjusters on rear have overtightened. New brake shoes will correct it so it doesnt happen again D.
