    We used to call those blakeys. Bloke in the pub called Duke has them on his highly polished shoes, always VERY clean shaven and smart. Throwback to the 50s.

    My dog is scared of the hoover, you just have to say the word and he slinks away with his tail between his legs. Hes as daft as his Mother.

    I saw a programme about that a couple of years ago when novices had to try and thatch a section of roof, then they poured red ink or something on it to simulate rain and to see where the leaks were. Skilled job that...

    Flying squirrel ( or a bat though I don't think so). There's some kind of parachute webbing between the arms and legs

    In the dark ages Reg before I moved to outer mongolia I lived in a thatched cottage in Essex. The roof was straw and it would last 20 odd years. Reed roofs are more commonly found in Norfolk. Reed looks darker, is not so thick and lasts far, far longer. I only lived there for three years so never had any expense. Indeed in that time the value of the house rose more than I could earn. Those were the days........

    Yip it’s a Microturbo TRS18 jet engine used in missiles etc, it was advertised for sale on the net...
